FAQ!!!
Prospective FAQ’s:
What does the commitment look like?
There are no strings attached! By going to an event as a prospective, or signing up as a member, you are not committing to any future events or roles. What you put into BBYO is what you will get out of it, so as much as we encourage you to come to as many events as you can, there is no pressure to do so. There are also a lot of leadership opportunities within BBYO if that is something you are interested in.
How often are events?
We have events most Saturday nights throughout the school year and some on Friday evenings. We also hold bimonthly business meetings on Tuesdays which are open to any member on or off board.
What is the sisterhood like?
Everyone in El Al is super welcoming and wants to get to know you! The girls in El Al are all super friendly and spirited so don’t be afraid to say hi or ask questions.
Is BBYO formal?
Most chapter events are very laid back and are meant to be a fun way to get to know other members within the chapter or region.
How religious is BBYO?
BBYO is a pluralistic organization meaning that Jews with varying degrees of religious belief are welcomed! We have Jewish related programming that helps to explore Judaism in new ways, but not every event has an element of Judaism in it.
Do I have to sign up as a member after my first event?
You definitely do not need to hurry into becoming a member. Typically, prospectives come to a few events before registering through BBYO, however, as a member there are so many perks like having the ability to come to overnight events, be on board, go to regional or international conventions, and so much more!
